Skyrim solitude can you stop the execution

According to his sister Greta , he opened the city gates to allow Ulfric Stormcloak into the city when he first came with the hidden intention of challenging the then-High King Torygg.

After Ulfric killed Torygg in the challenge, he tried to escape the city, and Roggvir again opened the gate for him. Accounts of the incident vary wildly among the citizens; most claim that he was an accomplice in the murder. Greta believes that he was doing his job, and had no way of knowing what Ulfric had done.

Upon entering Solitude for the first time, Roggvir will be publicly executed near the main gate. I followed him and watched him run in a building, then surrendered and paid the 40 gold fine. Unfortunately, afterwards I went to speak to his family and they all acted as if he had been executed, so it seems no matter what you do, Ragvirr technically dies. You can try and save him without getting the Gold Bounty on your head. To do so, you have to transform into Werewolf-Form, then shout so that everybody runs away scared..

If you manage not to be seen when go into Werewolf-Form or turn back to normal, no bounty will be on your head and you saved a life that day. It's possible, but it's kind of useless. I glitched him and he ran off and disappeared in thin air, I'll say he's saved :D. I have tried to "save" him a number of ways.

Even when he doesn't glitch and disappear, he will randomly die. I held all the guards in the hallway with him cowering behind me while I kept them knocked down with ice-storm spam, but he always dies before they are all dead. He was not hit by an arrow or my AoE. I quickly and brutally dispatched all the guards including the ones from upstairs who came running , the captain and the executioner, and had to repeatedly beat down the invincible Argonian NPC.

As someone else here said, even if you're well equipped to do this and Roggvir lives, he returns to the execution platform and then dies from nothing at all before much more time passes. It's a real pity. As a Stormcloak and believer in the Nords' "Old Way" which Roggvir and others profess to, I intended to put a stop to this execution even at cost of a large bounty on my head, but sadly the game scripting doesn't support what is possibly one of its biggest potential emotional hooks.

Perhaps more importantly, is it useful to save him? However, he will either disappear or drop dead if the Dragonborn attempts to speak with him, and all NPCs still comment as if he were executed. Attacking Roggvir before he is killed will cause the guards to become hostile, but will accrue no bounty.

If saved, Roggvir will sometimes go to the grindstone near his planned execution site and work on a sword. He will not leave the grindstone unless the Dragonborn attempts to use it. Entering Solitude for the first time through the side gate will cause the Dragonborn to miss the execution. However, dialogue options with NPCs will still be as if the Dragonborn had witnessed the execution note: After taking over the city of Solitude with the Stormcloaks, the guards talk about how it is "too bad they could not have gotten here in time to save Roggvir".

If the Dragonborn kills Ahtar, Captain Aldis, and the guard with them before Roggvir's death, Roggvir will die shortly after, since he is programmed to die regardless of the Dragonborn's actions. Speaking to Svari, the daughter of Roggvir's sister, Greta, about her mother starts a miscellaneous quest to convince Greta to return to the Temple of the Divines. This entails recovering Roggvir's Amulet of Talos off of his body and giving it to Greta.

In the catacombs, the amulet is in the stone coffin to the left of the entrance in the second alcove. Svari: "They can't hurt uncle Roggvir.

Tell them he didn't do it. Go home and stay there until your mother comes. Store Page. Global Achievements. So as you may all know, when you first enter Solitude a man named Roggvir gets executed. There is no way to stop it. If you kill the executioners, he'll die anyway from the guards. But the Stormcloak quest doesn't involve you to visit Solitude ever. So if I don't ever visit Solitude until the siege of Solitude, will Roggvir be saved? After all, you can hear some Stormcloaks in Solitude talk about how Roggvir would have made a great soldier.

Always wondered if you could play avenging hero.
